Lottiethings Catch Up
So I understand that its not the end of the month (nearly there), nor is it the beginning.
This is a good excuse to write about the books I have read, and blab on about things I have been doing.
So welcome to my catch up with me!
Recently, I have been trying to read a whole load of books. I actually managed to purchase six new books from amazon using their 3 for £10 offer. (I don’t think its going to last for long!)
My goal in life is to have a whole entire wall full of the books that I have read.
I am no where near accomplishing this.
I love to read, but I always seem to get side tracked doing something else.
When really, reading is probably better for me than watching a series on Netflix, or playing the Sims 4.
I will include the books I have read since the last post on this same subject. You can read it here – Older Post – Books I Have Read
We Were Liars – E.Lockhart
This is a wonderful little story, and it is a little story, just 225 pages! If you have all day to read, you could 100% complete this books super quickly.
We Were Liars is the kind of book you need to just sail through, don’t over think whats going on, just take it all in. There isn’t must I can really say without releasing any spoilers. It’s just a clever ol book.
E.Lockhart’s We Were Liars is the book for you to take away on holiday, or to read over a quiet weekend.
Overall extremely well written book, easy to understand, and totally addictive (and a little shocking).
Eleanor & Park – Rainbow Rowell
Ah Rainbow Rowell.
Such a great author of love stories and much more.
This is the perfect teen romance novel, with a dark-ish twist (which makes it so much more fun if you like a little heart stopping action).
I loved this book, I could not put it down. In fact I completed half of the book in one day, once shiz really started to go down.
A beautiful love story between two unlikely characters, but then again, Eleanor and Park are perfect for each other. Just get some tissues and a good imagination. You’ll love it.
Elizabeth Is Missing – Emma Healy
I have mixed emotions about this book.
It took me a really long time to read as I personally felt that it dragged a tiny bit. I don’t think the story needed to go on for so long, and the build up was pretty disappointing.
But that is just my opinion!
I have read so many great reviews about this book. It just was not the book for me.
Overall, its well written, a great story line. I think so much more could have been done with it.
I was left feeling a little confused, I even googled other peoples opinions on the ending of the book.
Ill Give You The Sun – Jandy Nelson
LOVED THIS BOOK.
The author of this books spent three years (I think it tells you in the intro) writing this story.
And wow it was worth it.
I felt like I had became apart of Noah and Jude’s life whilst reading.
Having a twin brother myself made me feel more attached to this story. Noah and Jude are the closet twins in the whole universe. They were best friends, forever. Until something happens (I’m not going to tell you) and it changes them, super sad.
100% recommend, and worth the read. Its a big ass book, so be ready to commit.
I applaud Nelson, she is an amazing author and story teller. Speechless.
Fangirl – Rainbow Rowell
I have just finished this book. I am now on ‘Finding Audrey – Sophie Kinsella’ which will be included in next months round up…
Fangirl, also written by Rainbow Rowell, is another lovely little love story between a group of young adults.
Not only between girlfriends and boyfriends, but family members too.
I love how Cath is such a normal girl, normal to me anyway. I relate and connect with the character a whole lot!
This is another book about twins, Cath and Wren. I see a twin pattern happening in the books I am choosing!
I think the story is, in some places, predictable. But its okay. Its nice to not be shocked all the time, and flow through a happy little realistic book. Although there are some slightly emotional scenes in this book. Its not totally depressing, like a lot of teen love stories…
What I Have Been Watching
The Missing –
A series of missing children (obviously) on BBC One.
Without giving away any spoilers, because there is nothing more annoying than spoilers!
This series is about a couple of girls who have gone missing, and one comes back…
The story expands from there. Showing the drama behind the scenes in the families lives, and how hard one man will work (although he retired) to help find some more clues, and help solve the mystery of who took them, where they are, and whats going on now.
It can be quite emotional at some scenes, but its also thrilling. I cannot wait until the next episode, (simply due to being impatient) it feels real, and the scary thing is, that it could happen to anyone, and it does happen.
PS – You might recognise the Father of Alice is the Governor from the Walking Dead!
American Horror Story –
An American series of disturbing stories.
I have a love/hate relationship with AHS.
Purely because there is so much gore and bloodshed. Its actually pretty gross! Some of the series I have preferred over the others. The Mental Asylum was probably one of the best. Recently, everyone has been killed of, in an extremely disgusting, vomit worthy way.
How do they make it look so real? I bet they go through so much fake blood whilst filming…
Still, I feel compelled to watch.
I have no idea what it is, I just need to keep watching, to find out what happens next… I guess that’s the whole point of a series.
If I am alone, then AHS is not being watched. I would probably end up turning it off because of the nightmares I might have. I am one of those people who need to watch something happy before they sleep…
The Walking Dead –
Zombie apocalypse series on Fox.
Never in a million years did I ever think I would be watching anything to do with zombies.
I mean its just ridiculous.
I also hate thinking about things that might happen one day, even if it is so very highly unlikely.
Anyway, zombies in The Walking Dead are great, they look so real, the deaths are absolutely rank, some of these zombies practically slice all the way in half. Vom.
Now don’t worry I wont be giving away and spoilers, I would hate me.
I am fully caught up on the series, I found my love for TWD on Netflix. Its been on my telly ever since.
The only thing I hate (hate is a strong word – ‘dislike’) about this program, is the attachments I create with every single character on the show (apart from the bad guys, I’ll let Rick deal with them). So when they die I get so upset, I cry, yes, I cry, real tears!
(Don’t kill me for spoilers, this is no spoiler, do you really expect them all to survive a world of zombies?!)
The only thing I find very unlikely, not including the zombies.
Is the fact that the remaining humans all hate each other (most anyway) why would they not all work together on this? Why would they rather be alone? We shall never know…
I am planning on doing a lot of things… I feel its time to change, and to try a little harder. I’m a bit stuck at the moment, going through the same routine all day everyday.
I have just, and I mean literally just enrolled onto an online Fiction Writing and Self Publishing Course. Currently feeling crazy excited about it, and also a little worried. I am hoping to learn a whole lot, and fingers crossed I’ll do well! The only struggle is finding the time to actually do it.
Late nights here we come!
You should never stop learning! I love writing, so I don’t see why I shouldn’t try to learn more, it might take me somewhere one day (hopefully sitting in a nice little office surrounded by my own books).
As I mentioned in the previous Roundup (a long time ago) I am trying (emphasis on the trying) to write a book. So far I am only 20 pages down.
This is not because I strongly dislike writing it, I am finding it hard to have the time to do it.
Well, my dilemma is that I most likely do have the time, but if I want to sleep, be healthy, and function as a normal human being. I hate to say it, but I really struggle to sit down, and be at the right mindset to write for hours on end.
At some point in the future I would love to take writing even further. Currently researching ways of doing this, and how to get into the whole writing for a living situation.
My other plans are less important, but quite fun…
New hair? What do you do when your long hair is boring you? I seem to keep cutting it all off, every time I grow it out… Currently thinking how to change it, and like it.
I really want to dye it, pink maybe… And chop it back to mid length, where its a little more bearable, and easier to style.
There we have it!
This months review, well basically just an update on me.
I hope you have enjoyed, if you have any comments, I would love to have a chat with you, and answer any of your questions.
Next post will be up the same time next Monday so be sure to come back… Please…
Thank you for reading.
